What is included in my race registration?

All Balboa Park 8 Miler participants will receive a t-shirt, finisher medal, chip-timed results and free race photos.
I am registered and I can no longer attend the event. What are my options?

There are no refunds but we have multiple options for you to defer, transfer or run virtually:

Transfers an Deferrals: You can transfer your registration to another participant or defer your entry to 2025. There is no fee for transfers/deferrals through July 12, 2024. There is a $15 fee between July 13, 2024 - August 1, 2024. There are no transfers/deferrals allowed after August 1st. If you wish to do a transfer/deferral, email our team at info@balboapark8miler.com and we will help handle your request!

Run Virtual: You can switch your registration to virtual so you still receive the great swag and participate on your own time! Once you complete your 8 miles, we will send you a link to upload your time. If you wish to switch to virtual, email our team at info@balboapark8miler.com.

Where is the start line?

The start line is located in the parking lot in front of the Comic-con Museum. The parking lot will be fully closed to all vehicular traffic.

Is this race chip timed?

YES - All participants will receive a timing chip with their registration.
Where do I pick-up my race packet?

Two options to pick up your packet will be available:

Thursday, August 1st from 3:00PM - 7:00PM at Road Runner Sports - 5553 Copley Dr., San Diego, CA 92111

Can I have my packet mailed to me?

YES, for a $15 convenience fee we will mail your packet including your race bib and t-shirt directly to your house!
Can I pick up my packet on race morning?

YES, for a $5 convenience fee you can pick up on race morning. We HIGHLY recommend you pick up before race morning to avoid lines and potentially starting late.
Is this event stroller friendly?

NO, unfortunately this race is not stroller friendly due to a lot of uneven terrain in the trails and some very challenging trail hills during the race.
Can I run with my dog?

NO, dogs are not allowed on the course. Unfortunately your four legged running buddy will have to sit this one out.
Will there be age group awards?
-
YES! The age group awards will be: top 3 overall, 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 80+ (male and female categories for all these age groups)
Is there a time limit?
-
YES - 2:00 hours/15 minute per mile pace. All participants must maintain a 15 minute per mile pace or faster. If a participant cannot maintain the minimum pace they will be asked to step off the course for their own safety.
Where should I park?

Parking is free! There are three parking lots located within walking distance of the start/finish line:

Organ Pavilion Parking Lot: Typically at capacity by 6:15a

Palisades Parking Lot: Typically at capacity by 6:30a

Inspiration Point Parking Lot: Overflow parking and will not fill up!
